QA & Hygiene Manager

Humdinger, Bromborough

Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30 (37.5 hours per week)

 

 

Humdinger snacking factory in Bromborough are seeking QA & Hygiene Manager to lead quality and hygiene excellence, ensuring top-quality production of our snacking products. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & improve GMP standards for the site, through auditing, coaching, root Cause Analysis and closure of non-conformances.
  • Review and bring to life retailer/external standards and requirements, and have a great understanding of Customers COPs and implement these with the Operational teams
  • Participate and manage the Hygiene and Quality functions for all Internal and External audits and drive through the responses to all the non-conformances raised and put in fixes with regards to the corrective actions, ensuring absolute route cause.
  • Manage the Quality Team on site, ensuring that all standard tasks are completed, including raw material intake checks, quality assessments of products, paperwork checks, GMP and other Factory Audits
  • Quality: ensure all product specifications and manufacturing procedures comply with GMP standards, through implementation, auditing, coaching, Root Cause Analysis and closure of non-conformances. Generating and review and update of factory and hygiene procedures, schedules and supporting internal audits, traceability exercises shelf life and other investigations as required
  • People: ensure all training requirements are covered by identifying skills gaps within the team and implementing plans to close.
  • Health Safety & Environment: always ensure the safety of people & products by meeting HSE standards and site improvement actions & targets.
  • To lead and manage site visits and audits with Customers and third-party auditors. Plan and set agenda for the visits, and manage the process from start to finish and ensure full close out and communication.
  • Communication, carry out effective briefings at start of shift and periodically on wider updates on site and business news. Managing and updating Quality and hygiene communication boards
  • Manage change in the workplace in line with targets by engaging the team members through effective communication and decision making.
  • Business goals and objectives: agree objectives with team members and monitor their progress through regular reviews (1:1's) . 
  • Leadership, provide effective leadership, coaching and support to team members, encouraging their ideas and involvement, managing any people issues by following the company's agreed processes & policies.
  • Support NPD trials and launches and be the Management link between NPD and the factory to ensure consistency and effective communication.
  • The QA & Hygiene Manager will be directly responsible for the Hygiene and management of the Hygiene team. Experience of good Hygiene practices and Hygiene Auditing.
  • Ensure that all Hygiene documentation is kept fully up to date, including all cleaning records, cleaning instruction cards and cleaning risk assessments
  • Work with the planning and operations team to ensure that all cleaning completed on site is suitable for the task and completed correctly as per the CIC
  • Ensure that all cleaning and allergen validations are completed as per the required schedule based on risk
  • Manage all aspects of the Pest Control contractor with supporting communications of collaborative solutions to managers with a continued improvement approach.
  • Working with quality to ensure both hygiene and operational team cleaning are verified routinely.
  • Form a good relationship with all suppliers of quality and hygiene contracts and site requirement purchases.
  • Control COSHH requirements regarding cleaning and testing chemicals and staff are adequately trained in handling procedures.
  • Ordering chemicals and consumables in accordance with the plan and needs of the business.
  • Maintain good standards of hygiene within the facilities and office areas.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Food Safety and willingness to progress to level 4 beyond the probationary period
  • Level 3 HACCP with potential development to level 4
  • Management and Leadership Skills
  • Internal Auditing
  • Quality and Hygiene team management experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Excellent knowledge of BRC standards and retail customers
