Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet 

 

Position type: Full-Time, Permanent 

Hours: 40

Shift Pattern: 08:00 - 16:30, Monday to Friday

Pay range: £11.97 /hour (£24,897.60 equivalent)  

Breaks: 1x 15 minute, 1x 30 minute 

 

Join our team as a Security and Hygiene Operative and take on a varied, hands-on role!

 

You’ll be responsible for keeping the external grounds of the factory clean, tidy, and secure. As the first point of contact for visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers, you’ll ensure they follow site rules and maintain safety. In addition, you’ll work as part of the Hygiene team to ensure the factory, amenity, and tray-wash areas meet the highest cleanliness standards. 

Responsibilities

  • Be the First Point of Contact for all visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel, ensuring they’re briefed on site rules and ready to comply (typically between 8 am – 10 am or 2/3 hours per morning).
  • Uphold High Standards of Cleanliness across the site, following cleaning schedules and work instructions to ensure every area is spotless and organised.
  • Document and Track Cleaning Activities, ensuring all tasks are completed as required and report any issues for swift corrective action.
  • Ensure Proper Waste Management by accurately separating and disposing of specified products, waste, and recyclables.
  • Support Food Safety by promptly identifying and reporting any concerns related to food safety, pests, or environmental issues to management.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety Guidelines, following company policies and the Health and Safety at Work Act, HACCP, Training and Briefings to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure Hygiene Standards on Equipment, ensuring plant and equipment are clean and safe, contributing to smooth factory operations.
  • Collaborate and Share Best Practices with team members to drive continuous improvement and contribute to the overall success of the department.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication skills as the initial point of contact for visitors, setting a positive first impression.
  • Preferably, prior experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to make sound, confident decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Adaptability to changes and evolving priorities.
  • Proficient command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Knowledge of Safe Chemical Handling/COSHH protocols or a willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Food Safety Level 2 certification or higher, or willingness to complete this training.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
