Skilled Factory Operatives (Multiple roles available)

Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25

 

We have multiple permanent job opportunities for hard-working individuals to join our chocolate and snacking factory in skilled roles across our processing and packing areas.

 

Position type: Full-time, Permanent 

Hours: 40

Pay range: £12.74/hour  (Entry pay) (£26,499.20 equivalent) 

Breaks: x1 30-minute breaks and x2 15-minute break 

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (days and nights), no weekends (except for one Sunday evening shift every 3 weeks)

  • Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday, 18:00 - 06:00 (3 nights, 5 days off)
  • Week 2: Monday to Tuesday, 06:00 - 18:00 & Wednesday to Thursday, 18:00 - 06:00 (2 days, 2 nights, 5 days off)
  • Week 3: Wednesday to Friday, 06:00 - 18:00 (1 day off, then repeat Week 1)

Our shift pattern offers full time, regular working hours with no weekend work and plenty of time off in between your shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery such as Bagging, Bulking, Foiling, and Netting.
  • Monitor asset performance and promptly address any corrective actions needed.
  • Ensure products are packed.
  • Follow recipes with precision.
  • Perform manual handling tasks.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly hygiene tasks.
  • Conduct all necessary Critical Control Point (CCP) checks.
  • Safely handle all raw materials.
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of products throughout the entire production process.
  • Adhere strictly to the production plan to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within the work area.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Supervising a small team of packing operatives.

Receive training in Level 2 Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, and various other certifications in your first few weeks.

Qualifications

We're in search of committed team players. While prior experience in a food or similar factory environment is beneficial, we encourage discussions with all candidates eager to be part of the Humdinger team.

 

Essential

  • Machinery experience
  • Good level of English and Maths demonstrated.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

Desirable

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification 
  • Level 2 Health and Safety qualification 
  • Food industry experience
